Beautiful 1+ bedroom house (solarium easily converts to bedroom) with full kitchen, spacious living room, and play/dining area on 2.5 acre private, wooded property with giant open lawn. A stones throw from civilization so you can get away from it all, or venture out right into it all from your super chill country home. This house has been in my family for 50 years. It’s well-taken care of, nicely furnished, and located literally 300 feet off of any road. Giant bay windows abound looking out on nature and the night sky. The stone-faced wood-burning fireplace adds another dimension to chilly late-fall or winter nights. You’ll think you’re in the middle of nowhere unless you need something; and then you’ll be right next to whatever you seek. We have an outdoor patio with a picnic table, plus another table and chairs out in the meadow. Our lawn is massive and perfect for outdoor fun including frisbee, catch, croquet, volleyball, badminton…whatever strikes your fancy. Best of all, we’re only an hour to an hour and 10 minutes from Manhattan. That’s a real hour folks…not gee-if-only-traffic-didn’t-exist timing. We’re also close to Ronkonkoma train station so your non-driving friends can easily come out to join you for the weekend. In addition to all those windows, we have air-conditioning and fans. The main bedroom is huge, as is the solarium (named that because of its 14 windows) which serves us as a second bedroom and is easily convertible. Perfect for a family or couples with or without visiting friends, though a solitary writer might also think he’d dropped into Heaven. You can easily barbecue and eat out on the porch, or anywhere in the backyard. Take a look at a googlemaps picture and you’ll see how the house is perfectly set back from the road. Nearby Corey Beach is ideal for kids. Shallow bay water, a playground on the sand, and local fixture Flo’s Luncheonette serving up yummy food. For the ocean beach experience, Smith Point on Fire Island is a 15 minute drive away. Otherwise, the Pines, Cherry Grove, Watch Hill and Davis Park ferries are 15 minute drives into town.
