Literally 2 mins walk from Kennington tube station, this home is a perfect base for those looking to enjoy the touristic side of London. Families will really like the home as it is large and spacious (by London standards) with some lovely parks around. House Highlights: – spread over 3 floors, the space is bigger than your usual central London property of comparable specs and price.- with 3 bathrooms, there’s no waiting for your turn in the shower as you’ll all have your own space.- Wi-Fi – we have very solid, unlimited wi-fi in the house so if you’re in town on business you can connect easily.- the garden is South-facing, so it becomes a lovely sun-trap on a fine day. And the living room has patio doors meaning this space is very light and bright.- There comfortable seating in the living room, and two single futons which can be pulled out as an extra bed if necessary. – The kitchen was recently renovated, so everything is newly fitted and efficient. There is a table and benches in the kitchen for meals with young children – if you want to wipe the floor easily!- There’s also a dining table in the living room so plenty of space for family meals there too. – From the kitchen and north-facing bedrooms you have a clear view of the Shard building, which is quite a sight on a sunny day! – In London, proximity to the tube is everything. Our house is literally 2 mins walk from Kennington underground station which, in turn, is only 8 mins direct to Leicester Square tube – taking you right into the heart of the capital. Our house is a safe and comfortable family home but, with it’s size and multiple bed and bathrooms, it could also be a great place to stay for a group of friends or colleagues. Guest Access The only areas guests don’t have access to are the bike shed, the very top attic space and our storage areas in attic and under the stairs. But there is still plenty of space in drawers and hanging rails / wardrobe. The Neighbourhood Kennington is a lovely, quiet part of London with some great places to eat and drink and relaxing green spaces – perfect for a family staying in London. But, at the same time, it’s only one tube stop away from Zone 1, and all the action there! Plenty of big tourist attractions are just 20 mins walk from our house – the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, the London Aquarium, the London Dungeon, river cruises, the National Theatre, the Tate Modern Gallery – plus the great vibe, activity and street entertainment of the South bank. Closer to home, there are some good quality pubs and restaurants almost on the doorstep, and a selection of convenient and charming independent shops – such as a deli, cafes, a bakery and a book shop – as well as the usual supermarkets and familiar chains within walking distance. Kennington Park is 5 minutes away, with a cafe, playground, basketball court and tennis courts, and there is the even larger Burgess Park nearby if you want more greenery, space and fresh air to run around in! And the lake there is a very tranquil place. If you are a cricket fan, the Kia Oval cricket ground is only 5 minutes walk away. The Imperial War Museum is also a very short walk from the house, and the distillery of Beefeater Gin – the only premium gin still distilled in London – is situated nearby. As you can probably tell, we love Kennington – it’s an area where we have a haven of peace and quiet, but with all the bright lights and famous landmarks of central London in close proximity. Perfect for when you want a “big night out,” to watch a West End show, a day-trip shopping on Oxford Street, a cultural day in the world’s best museums and art galleries or to visit the Queen! Getting Around Kennington Tube is literally 2 mins walk from the house and your total journey time from the house to the West End or City is no more than 10 mins direct (no changes). There are also a host of bus stops nearby, taking you anywhere you fancy, or if you’re looking to use the house as a base to travel further afield, Waterloo is just one tube stop away on the Northern Line. Other Things to Note We love our house and the area – but we are also willing to share it with you so that we can take mini-breaks and afford the longer trips abroad. We will make every effort to ensure you enjoy your stay and that everything works smoothly. Please note that there are stairs in the house and parents please do watch out for your kids. The house is not suitable for those with mobility issues. Also the master bedroom has a funky bathroom that has no doors and is a part of the bedroom itself.
